ABOUT SANDEMAN FOUNDER'S RESERVE PORT WINE
This Ruby Reserve is one of Sandeman's reference wines and, therefore, received its name in honor of the Company's Founder.
Sandeman Porto Founder's Reserve is the result of more than two hundred years of experience. Sandeman Porto Founder's Reserve is produced according to the traditional Port Wine method.
TASTING SANDEMAN FOUNDER'S RESERVE PORT WINE
Sandeman Porto Founder's Reserve is the result of a selection made from the best «lots» of each vintage, aged for about five years. It is a powerful wine, very fruity and fiery, characteristics that distinguish it as a classic Port.
This port wine is bright and clean with an intense ruby red color. Rich red fruit aromas combine with finesse to create an elegant reflection of powerful flavors, with the fruit and fire of a young classic Porto balanced by the sophistication of age.

Hand-picked grapes are destemmed and crushed, followed by fermentation with maceration of the films to extract the best constituents. The addition of brandy establishes the balance between the body and the aroma of the wine, being the ideal moment established by the Oenology team after a rigorous control of fermentation temperatures and densities, a factor that varies according to the variety, degree of ripeness and sweetness.
The wines remain in the Douro region until they are transported to Vila Nova de Gaia the following spring, where they enter the cellars of Sandeman, for aging in oak wood casks according to the traditional Port Wine system.
Over the years, the wines are carefully transferred, tasted and analyzed and the final blend is designed to maintain the style and character of the Sandeman Porto Founder's Reserve.
The selected wines are generally between 3 and 5 years old which allows to obtain a mature and intense wine with an average age of 4 years. The final blend is filtered and cold stabilized before bottling.
