ABOUT QUINTA DO MONTE D'OIRO - "VINDIMA 13 OUTUBRO" - PORTUGUESE WHITE WINE

Only 700 bottles of this wine were produced. In 2016, Viognier at Monte d’Oiro was harvested in early September. However, some lines were intentionally left and were only harvested more than a month later, on October 13th. The grapes were manually harvested with a beautiful golden color, which, after gentle crushing with direct pressing, fermented in a stainless steel vat with temperature control. Fermentation took 18 days and the sugar unfolded in its entirety. Harvested on the anniversary of producer José Bento dos Santos, this wine is a tribute by the entire team to his mentor, while trying to recreate what was his first harvest at Quinta do Monte d'Oiro, in 2003.

TASTING QUINTA DO MONTE D'OIRO - "VINDIMA 13 OUTUBRO" - PORTUGUESE WHITE WINE

Very heavy in color, very complex in aromas where the almond and dried fruit notes give the wine an austere and dark tone. The weight of the alcohol is felt in the mouth but the acidity is here to play a big role, involving and helping the complexity of the whole.

Grapes were harvested by hand which, and fermented in stainless steel vats with temperature control. Fermentation took place over 18 days and the sugar was fully unfolded. 34 months in used French oak cask (for ageing Port wine).

Located in Alenquer, the Quinta do Monte D'Oiro has been known since the 19th century. XVII as a privileged place for the production of great wines. The objective of the producer José Bento dos Santos, is the elaboration of high-quality European-style wines, respecting the existing terroir - a unique combination of soils and climate. In the Monte D'Oiro vineyard, the grapes Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Petit Verdot and Viognier are planted, with which the producer has produced some of the most applauded wines in Portugal and in the world.
